Sculptures: French school
Spread around the Richelieu wing's Cour Marly and Cour Puget, two sumptuous courtyards covered by glass roofs which diffuse a subtle light, the French Sculpture collection are indisputably the finest in the world. They offer the visitor a wonderful journey through thirteen centuries of sculpture, from the High Middle Ages to the early 19th century.
Sculptures: other schools
Housed at the ground floor of the Denon wing, the collections dedicated to the Italian, Spanish and Northern Schools' sculptures are nevertheless of great interest. Michelangelo's famous slaves – recently restored – stand alongside Canova's or Donatello's prestigious works but also those, equally moving, of less well-known artists.
